Sri Lanka’s economy reaches pre-crisis levels but recovery uneven - World Bank

The World Bank’s latest semi-annual development update confirms that Sri Lanka’s overall economic output has recovered significantly following extensive macroeconomic stabilization measures.

Growth was led by robust recovery in international tourism, strong agricultural yields, and consistent remittance inflows from overseas Sri Lankan workers.

However, the report cautions that domestic poverty numbers remain concerningly elevated, urging policymakers to protect vulnerable households through fortified social safety nets and sustained fiscal prudence.
